How to use
Upload the file you want to check. It never leaves your browser.
All 8 algorithms — CRC32, MD5, and the SHA family — are calculated at once.
Paste the checksum published on the download page into the "Compare checksum" box to check for a match instantly.
Need the hash of a text string instead? Try the Hash Generator.
자주 묻는 질문
Q1. Is my uploaded file sent to a server?
No. The file is read entirely in your browser to compute checksums; it's never uploaded to a server. This makes it safe to check large files too.
Q2. Why do I need a checksum?
A file can get corrupted during download, or a distribution server could be compromised — either way the checksum would no longer match the original. Comparing the checksum published on the download page against the one you compute confirms the file is intact.
Q3. Where do I find the checksum value to compare?
Official download pages for Linux distro ISOs, software installers, and similar files usually publish an MD5 or SHA-256 value alongside the download link. Copy that value and paste it into the compare box on this page.
Q4. What should I do if the values don't match?
The download may be corrupted, the source may have been compromised, or you may have compared against the wrong algorithm. Try re-downloading the file first; if it still doesn't match, avoid running or installing it.
Q5. Can I hash a text string instead?
This page is file-only. To hash a text string, use the Hash Generator tool instead.
