Q1. Are the generated passwords secure?
Yes. The tool uses your browser's cryptographic random number generator (crypto.getRandomValues) to produce unpredictable random passwords. Longer length and more character variety both make it stronger.
Q2. Is the generated password sent to or stored on a server?
No. Passwords are generated entirely in your browser and are never sent to or stored on a server. Refreshing the page clears any previously generated password.
Q3. What's the recommended password length?
Generally 12 characters or more, and ideally 16 or more. Mixing uppercase, lowercase, numbers, and symbols significantly increases the time a brute-force attack would take.
Q4. What does the "exclude ambiguous" option do?
It removes characters that are easy to confuse in some fonts, like uppercase I, lowercase l, and the number 1. Turn it on if you'll need to write the password down or type it manually.
Q5. Is it okay to reuse the same password across sites?
No. If one site is breached, every other account sharing that password is put at risk too. Generate a new password with this tool for each site and store them in a password manager.
